About Us
The Urban League of Union County (ULUC) is a non-profit community service organization founded in 1944 and incorporated in 1952. We are one of 90 affiliates of the National Urban League. The Urban League supplies information on the minority population, conducts surveys, training programs, secures jobs, motivates youth, and provides essential services in education, housing, health, employment, and advocacy.
Our Mission
The mission of the Urban League of Union County is to assist African Americans and other underserved people in achieving social and economic equality. We employ the tools and methods of social work to intervene at all points in the social and economic structure where the interests of African Americans, other minorities, and the poor are at stake. Our efforts include providing education, housing, health services, and promoting economic self-reliance and civil rights.
Governance
The Urban League of Union County is nonpartisan and biracial in its leadership and staff. We are governed by a Board of Directors representing various sectors of the community, including corporate, educational, religious, legal, and public arenas. Board members serve specific terms and contribute their expertise to further our mission.
