This special event will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the 313+ Ancestors Speak Monument, Old First Cemetery, 42 Broad Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07201. Presented in partnership with the Urban League of Union County, the City of Elizabeth Department of Recreation, and GoElizabethNJ250, the ceremony is part of a broader effort to honor the stories, resilience, and contributions of Black communities in Elizabeth.

Guests will enjoy breakfast, welcome remarks, a commemorative brick unveiling, and The Underground Experience — a live immersive Black history reenactment and storytelling journey. This event offers an opportunity to reflect, remember, and celebrate at one of Elizabeth’s most meaningful heritage sites.

The ceremony also highlights the ongoing commemorative brick initiative connected to the monument. Community members are encouraged to purchase a brick and become part of this lasting tribute.
